
Circumstances in life can weigh US down. As individuals, we not only experience challenges inwardly, but also face difficult situations externally. Although it may be difficult at times, we must be positive [over negative]. “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” (Phil. 4:8 New International Version).
One aspect of being positive is addressing the negativity within and/or around us. To do this, a person might:
1) Realize there is/are circumstance(s) that affects you negatively. [A problem exists]
2) Learn why the negative situation exists. [Try not to worry and move beyond complaining. Instead, study the problem by sharing your concerns with trusted others for wise counsel, pray, and seek understanding through God’s word.]
3) Be critical. Appraise the negative situation, truthfully. [Evaluate ALL the causes of the circumstance, including your own actions and beliefs, those of your immediate circle, and your environment.]
4) Be SMARTER, STRONGER, & in SYNERGY with a positive support system. [Solve the problem with strategic planning, purposeful effort(s), & in partnership with God. Find a new or work with an existing supporting cast of positive people to help you reach your goals.]
5) Persevere through setbacks, staying focused on your (and/or your team’s) goal. [Be encouraged! Keep moving forward to solve the problem. With God, “all things are possible” (Matt. 19:26 New International Version).]
6) Celebrate your Victory [Problem solved, Praise God, compliment yourself and your team…work towards overcoming new challenges > turn negatives into positives]
7) Remember the Goodness of God! [Remembering the process (the battles) and the victories (outcomes) will help you think/be positive when facing new challenges.]
